ROYAL VELVET won by the smallest of margins on Thursday afternoon at Great Yarmouth under Apprentice Brandon Wilkie. This was another game effort from the 3yo daughter of Lightning Spear who once again showed plenty of determination and just held on to get her nose in front at the right time. ROYAL VELVET was beginning to get a bit lonely out in front when joined by the fast finishing SALAMANCA CITY, but she dug deep, securing her third career win for her owner Mrs Susie Hartley. Her previous two wins came on the all weather so it was nice for this homebred filly to get a win on the turf under her belt. This was the yard’s 7^th winner in the past 2 weeks (39%) with the horses remaining in fine form.
