PEARL BEACH was back to winning ways on Thursday as she won at the first ever Racing League meeting up at Newcastle. Having had a productive season last year she has been running well without winning and looked handicapped to her best. However, she has improved again this year and produced a career best under another smooth ride from Daniel Muscutt. It is also fantastic for her owners, Mr & Mrs Welby, to gain another winner from their mare which they also bred.

The Racing League has been quite a divisive concept so far but no one can complain about the increase of prize- money for this series. We were delighted to kick off with a winner and a second, from Eagle Creek, which puts our team, Racehorse Lotto, in 3rd position after the first meeting.
