ASTRAL BEAT lost his maiden tag last night at Newcastle in game fashion by making all of the running and pulling clear to win by 1 3/4 lengths, completing a double on the night for the team. He has always shown plenty of natural speed and jockey Jim Crowley kept things simple by bagging the rail and showing them a clean pair of heels all the way to the line.

He had ran well on his seasonal reappearance at Salisbury but has run his best races on the all- weather and seems much more comfortable on the synthetic surfaces. We are also thrilled that owners Rathmoy Racing II & Gary Stevens were rewarded after a couple of frustrating runs last year.
