HOLKHAM BAY took his Ascot course record to two wins and a second from three starts with a narrow success in the valuable Class 2 6f Handicap on Friday, leaving connections dreaming of a date at Royal Ascot next year.
The four-year-old son of Acclaim won on Shergar Cup day in August and after two defeats elsewhere since, he bounced back when holding off the Richard Fahey trained Garfield Shadow by a short head. The little bit of juice in the ground helped him and he has finished his season on a high, taking his lifetime winnings to over £100,000. He can now have a well deserved holiday! He will be a nice horse for next year and hopefully he can shine on the big stage.
Well done to his owners in the Norfolk Thoroughbreds Partnership.
