MASHOOGA announced herself as a horse to follow with an impressive winning debut at Newbury under a well-judged ride from Taylor Fisher.
Breaking slowly from the stalls, MASHOOGA had to overcome an early disadvantage as she settled in midfield during the opening stages. Despite the slow start, her rider remained patient, allowing her to find a comfortable rhythm before making steady progress.
Travelling strongly, MASHOOGA began to close on the leaders over two furlongs from home on the far side of the track. When asked to quicken, she responded in determined fashion, taking the lead just over a furlong from the finish before staying on powerfully to secure victory.
It was an encouraging performance for a first run and with experience now under her belt, this 2yo daughter of Coolmore Stallion Sergei Prokofiev looks capable of making further progress as her career develops.
