This was a very encouraging performance from SPIRIT OF LYRA, who looked to have learned plenty from her debut when winning the 6f restricted maiden fillies’ stakes at Lingfield on Saturday evening. Ridden confidently by Neil Callan, the two-year-old daughter of Lucky Vega travelled prominently before being angled out to challenge approaching the final furlong. Once she hit the front, she quickly asserted and pulled clear to score by 3½ lengths from the Gary Moore trained Summer Triangle, appearing to win with something in hand.
This was a smart performance on just her second start on a fairer track than her debut at Ripon. SPIRIT OF LYRA looks to have taken a step forward, displaying professionalism and a smart turn of foot when asked to go and win her race. She looks capable of making her mark in stronger company as the season progresses. Well done to all connections of Rathmoy Racing II.
