Velvet Makes Winning Return at HQ

ROYAL VELVET returned to action in impressive style when landing the class 3 7f Handicap at Newmarket on Thursday. Making her seasonal debut, the 5yo daughter of Lightning Spear made light of the competition. Regular partner William Buick settled ROYAL VELVET at the rear of the 18 strong field. Waiting for the rising ground, the pair came with a swooping run around the outside of runners, eventually pulling clear by almost 3 lengths. This was ROYAL VELVET’s 8th career win and she has now amassed over £140,000 in prize money. Congratulations to her owner and breeder Mrs Susie Hartley.

The horses are on great form with this being the yard’s 2nd winner in the past 2 weeks.
