Victory for Velvet
on 23 March 2019

Velvet Morn shed her maiden tag on the third time of asking at Kempton this evening.

The drop back to 6f looked to suit this daughter of Epaulette well and she was given an excellent front running ride from Andrea Atzeni. She jumped well and settled nicely in front, setting a fair gallop for her rivals. Kicking for home 2f out, she pulled well clear of the challengers and finished 1 1/2 lengths in front of James Fanshawe's Harry Bar.

Things have not been easy for this filly who started the year as an unraced 4yo. Plagued by niggling injuries she was given plenty of time to strengthen up by her very patient owner, Mrs Susie Hartley, and has done nothing but please us this year. She showed plenty of promise in her first two runs and validated that form with tonight's win.

This was our fourth winner of the year, on a busy Saturday with five runners at two meetings. The horses all look extremely well and we are looking forward to the start of the flat season.
