Sir Busker strikes in Newbury Maiden
on 21 September 2018

Sir Busker opened his account on the third time of asking in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes at Newbury today.

Having posted two promising runs at Kempton and Lingfield, the 2yo son of Sir Prancealot showed true guts and determination, as well as plenty of ability, to land the first division of this competitive maiden. The plan was to sit handy but get some cover as the very strong headwind combined with some heavy rain did not make for pleasant conditions. However this tough colt ended up seeing daylight all the way as he sat virtually upsides the long time leader.

He took up the running at the furlong pole and kept on well to win by half a length, leaving his shorter priced rivals in his wake.  Sir Busker has been putting in some decent homework so it was pleasing to see him deliver an impressive performance on the track. He is a big horse who has done well for his racing, strengthening up with each run.

The horses are in flying form. Yesterday's winner Seinesational is back off to Chelmsford tomorrow to try and notch up another win. He will be accompanied by Archimento, who also goes into his race off a win.
