It's a Kempton Double!
on 04 September 2018

Tuesday was a good day at the office. Jacob Cats ran a blinder at Goodwood to finish 4th against superior horses, some rated 27lbs higher than him. Next up, new recruit Butterfield gave a very good account of himself to finish 3rd on his racecourse debut.

William then headed over to Kempton Park to saddle three runners. Goodwood Showman, who has shown so much improvement since his wind operation, won the mile handicap in convincing fashion under Silvestre De Sousa. He broke well and took a bit of a keen hold until his jockey managed to tuck him in behind the eventual second, Golden Iris. The 3yo son of Showcasing settled in around 4th position until ridden to challenge turning for home. He hit the front in the final furlong and held on well to win by a length. This was the first win for the Goodwood Racehorse Owners Group owned gelding and we hope that he will give his owners some more fun before he heads to the Horses in Training sale at Newmarket in October.

The 7.45pm race saw Arab Moon regain his form and record his first win in almost 13 months. He loves the all weather surface and now 4 of his 5 wins have come at this track. He led for the first half a mile but was relegated to second position by the eventual runner up Percy's Word. The 4yo son of Elnadim closed down the leader to get the better of him by a neck.

Tonight's double brought William's seasonal tally up to 20 winners. The horses are in great form and we are looking forward to a busy end to the week with Glorious Goodwood winner Sotto Sizzler back out to build on his festival success.
