New recruit Kurrajong off the mark
on 21 March 2018

Kingston Kurrajong won at Kempton this evening, on his second start since joining us at the end of last year.

Having had a busy 2017, he was given a nice long break over the autumn. We brought him back to full work and ran him at Kempton in February, where he was fresh and ran too free with the visor on. He settled nicely today (without the visor) and was able to race in mid division, sitting one off the rail. He travelled strongly and quickened nicely when asked by Martin Harley turning for home.

He did not have a clear run and was stopped a couple of times, but the gaps eventually came and he was able to claim the race by a neck. This 5yo gelded son of Authorized had two wins under his belt before he joined us, but his last win came over a year ago. Hopefully tonight's victory will give him a confidence boost and he can climb back up the ratings.

This was the yard's 6th winners so far this term from just 21 runners. It is nice to head into the season on a 29% strike rate!  We have some exciting runners coming up later in the week with Ballard Down heading to the Lincoln on Saturday.
