Author's Dream doubles up at Lingfield
on 10 January 2018

Author's Dream defied a 10lb hike in the weights to score again at Lingfield this afternoon.

Last seen winning at Wolverhampton a month ago, the 5yo son of Authorized was put up 10lbs by the handicapper following his 11 length annihilation of the field. It is never easy to come out and win impressively again, but this is exactly what Author's Dream did today.

Joseph O'Brien had sent the much fancied (4/5F) Grey Waters over for the race and it was clear that this horse was expected to win.  Martin Harley, who won on Author's Dream last time, was back in the saddle today and gave his mount a perfect ride. Drawn widest of all, he gradually edged over to take up the lead after the first bend. Harley ensured that the pace remained a strong one and Author's Dream kept on gamely, relishing every inch of the 2 mile trip. His 3 length defeat of the second horse was impressive, but there was a further 11 lengths back to the third horse.

Author's Dream is certainly improving with every run and, provided that the handicapper is not too unkind, we hope to see him back in the winners enclosure again soon!
