2017 End of Season Review
on 01 January 2018

2017 has been a frustrating year. It started off very well with the yard operating on a 31% strike rate into the end of May. However, we did not manage to maintain the good form, with a real lack of strength in depth meaning that we only sent out 185 runners for the year.

Arab Moon was the star of the show, winning 4 of his 8 starts and climbing 32 lbs in the ratings. The now 4yo son of Elnadim has shown a love for the all weather surfaces and will likely be aimed for the Rosebery Handicap at Kempton in March.

Ballard Down picked up the most prize money, winning 2 of his 5 starts. His latest run in July saw him win the £28,000 'Betbright Recall Handicap' at Newmarket's July course. The 5yo son of Canford Cliffs unfortunately picked up an injury in that race which forced him to sit out the rest of the 2017 season.

Jacob Cats and Captain Peacock also won 2 races each and several others managed to hit the score board. N over J was our only 2yo winner but he won well, first time out.

This year's 2yos look like a nice bunch and we are looking forward to getting the 2018 season underway.
