Cool win for Sky

Cool Sky shed his maiden tag in good style at Lingfield on Friday afternoon.

The 3 year old son of Millkom had been unlucky in recent starts, but he justified favouritism here to score by a neck.  Posted three wide for much of the 1m4f contest, he saw plenty of daylight, but jockey Jim Crowley had him nicely settled, conserving his energy for the end.

Travelling well into the final bend, Cool Sky took up the running with plenty of petrol left in the tank.  Jockey Jim Crowley reported that the win would have been visually more impressive had he managed to secure a better position throughout the race.

Trainer William Knight was delighted to see his charge in the Winner's Enclosure and indicated that there would be more to come: "Cool Sky has taken time to mature and for the penny to drop.  Now he has got his act together and has been dropped to a competitive mark he should hopefully keep improving."
