Western Pearl concluded her racing career with a very creditable fourth in the Listed Prix Denisy at Saint Cloud on Thursday.

Jockey Theo Bachelot always had her in a good position and she saw out the two mile trip well, finishing six lengths behind the winner, Group 1 placed Silver Valny.  The daughter of High Chaparral has accumulated some solid placed black type during her 3 year career with some of her best performances coming across the channel.

The 5 year old mare retires with just the one win to her name, but a further seven placed efforts, three of which have been in Listed company and almost £30,000 in prize money.  Her latest effort earned her a career high rating of 100.

Western Pearl will now retire to her owners' (Nicky and Nigel Welby) new stud in East Sussex where she will become their foundation mare.

Paying tribute to one of the longest serving inmates of Lower Coombe Stables, trainer William Knight said "Western Pearl has done us proud and has given us a lot of fun over the years.  I hope that she will pass on her ability and genuineness to her offspring.".
